New Ownership at The Grotto

Dave and Lori Monroe, and Chere and Antony Mouyios took over ownership of Talent’s 18 year old landmark pizzeria, The Grotto, on April 1, 2018. The new staff would like to invite you to their Grand Opening Party to be held on August 31 featuring live music with local stand out band The Brothers Reed.

Anthony was raised in Talent and has been in the restaurant business his entire life. “I was inspired by Chef Daniel Treadway and Culinary Chef Dale Fowler at 18 years of age and never looked back,” Anthony said. Author of one cookbook, Anthony has won many awards over his 25-year career, as well as cooking for many celebrities and musicians.

The Monroes moved here from Medford about 15 years ago. “We wanted to move to a small community to raise our daughter, Mellissa,” Dave said. “While we waited for our house to be built in Talent we rented room from a friend in Phoenix. We were told it would be four months. It took 8 ½ months.

“So every night we would go to Talent and see how the house was coming along, stopping by the Grotto two to three times a week. Once we got moved in I decided I would like to sell The Grotto paper supplies from the company I work for…WCP Solutions.

“I became good friends with the owner and staff. That’s when I met Tony. One day Tony came up to me and asked if I would be interested in going in with him to buy The Grotto.

“Long story short we met with a business consultant and the rest is history. My part in the business is mostly an investor. Chef Anthony is the day-to-day Manager.”

The Grotto is an upscale pizzeria, famous for its family friendly vibe and décor, friendly staff, great selection of 10 rotating micro beers on tap, soups and salad bar…and oh, yeah, their sourdough crust pizza (with a 25 year old starter yeast) which is made fresh daily. They also have a delicious gluten-free crust on the menu.

“We take pride in our sourdough crust, and preparing all of our ingredients from scratch,” Anthony said. “And we strive to buy local and organic whenever possible.”

The Grotto also delivers, is available to host private parties, and is a great spot to catch sporting events on one of their three large screen HD TVs.
